George was born on August 30, 1920 in Opoczno, Poland to Waclaw and Emilia (Bialucka) Budzyñski. At 18 years old, he and a group of professors and students from the Politechnical Institute were taken prisoner by Russian Troops and sent to a labor and concentration camp in Vladivostok, Siberia across from Alaska. He was there for 22 months and released in 1941, when WWII was formally declared. After an extensive journey through the Middle East and Africa, he joined the Polish Air Force Third Division Carpatos.

In 1943, he left for England where he joined the RAF Polish Division and served meritoriously, receiving a Defence Medal, War Medal from the British Empire. George rose to the rank of Sergeant Major. In 1948, unable to return to Poland, he left England for Argentina where he married Nelida Raimondi on November 26, 1949 and they raised their family.

Searching for a better future for his family, they immigrated to the U.S. in 1961. They lived in Rochester, NY for a number of years and recently moved to St. Cloud in 2005.

George is survived by his wife, Nelida; children, Cristina Budzyñski (Walt Kolb) and Jurek (Andrea) Budzyñski; brother, Marian Budzyñski of Poland; and extended family all over the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

My deepest condolences to the family! I remember when I was young and one of my favorite things that I looked forward to was driving from Toronto to Rochester with my parents to visit. It has been a long time since then but Jerzy will always reamin in our hearts!

We are so sorry for your loss. We will always remember Wujek as we saw him for the first time, when he was waiting for us in front of his home, smiling, with open arms. He opened his heart and his home for us, when we needed it the most. Wujek was a beautiful person with a heart of gold. We have missed him all of these years and now we will miss him more.

George and Nelida's home in Webster was a second home to us and our children. A winter afternoon spent by the fireplace, Dushka and Mikey watching TV, Mike Sr. and Geroge playing chess and Nelida and I chatting away... that's a good memory. Que Dios los bendiga y los consuele sabiendo que Jorge esta ya en la casa del Padre, tal vez hasta jugando ajedrez con Mike. Los queremos mucho.

As a child, George and Nelida welcomed us into their home as if we were family. I have few childhood memories, but so many of my fondest memories are of those spent at George's home in Webster, NY. It was a home that he built himself, with his own hands and a sense of commitment that I had never encountered, and have yet to encounter in life. Even as a child, I remember being in awe of the hard work and dedication he put into building a home for his family. On many occasions, I had the good fortune of spending time at their beautiful home. It was a place built with the strongest foundation - a foundation like the one he built for his family whom he loved so deeply. Everything he did, he did with pride and a profound sense of dedication. I admired him as a father, husband, and friend. I felt truly loved by George, and I will always be grateful to him for providing me with a safe and happy place that always felt like home. Thank you for the fondest of memories, George. I will always remember you with happiness and love in my heart. I wish you peace, as you rest now with God in His home in Heaven.
