William L. Nelson

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Paynesville Lutheran Church in Paynesville for William L. Nelson, age 94, of Paynesville. William passed away Saturday, January 30 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Burial will take place in the Paynesville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Bill was born March 5, 1915 in Priam, Minnesota to Nels P. and Sena (Johnson) Nelson. He married WillaDean Payton on August 8, 1948 in Alabama. They resided in Paynesville where he worked at the North American Creamery and the Herb Schultz Mink Ranch. He retired from Jennie-O-Foods in Litchfield. He was baptized July 3, 1994 at Paynesville Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and outdoor activities. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa”.

Bill is survived by his six children Betty Bahner of Roscoe, Larry Nelson of Carlos, Robert (Renae) Nelson of Paynesville, Mike (Lorraine) Nelson of Eden Valley, Lisa (Terry) Nelson of New Richmond, WI and Cindy (Kirk) Bober of Cyrus, 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and former daughter-in-law Marion Nelson of Alexandria.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife WillaDean (1994), 5 brothers, 2 sisters and son-in-law Roger Bahner.
