William C. Johnson

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm, MN for William Charles Johnson, age 91, of Crosby, MN formerly of Foley, MN who died on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. The Reverend Bernard Kahlhamer will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery at Duelm. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by VFW Granite Post #428 of St. Cloud. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 23 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to the services at the church. St. Lawrence Parish Prayers will be at 5:00 P.M. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home.

William was born on October 24, 1919 in St. Paul, MN the son of Charles W. and Amelia (Bertossi) Johnson. He served his country in the United State Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Katherine Pfeifer on August 17, 1946. Three sons were born to this union. William had a career as a designer and engineer for an appliance manufacturer, working for Franklin Manufacturing where he retired as Quality Control Manager. He was a kind and gentle man who never complained about what life dealt him…truly a member of the “Greatest Generation.”

He was a former member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm and a member of Myrin-James American Legion Post #443 in Ironton, MN.

He is survived by his wife Patricia of Crosby, MN, two sons, William (Bill Jr.) and his wife Donna of Livermore, CA, and Terrence and his wife Magdalen of Pequot Lakes, MN, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy and Shirley.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son David who died this past December 26th, two sisters Lorraine and Donna, and one brother Chuck.
