Richard H. "Schmitty" Schmitt

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 26, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park, for Richard H. “Schmitty” Schmitt, 71, of Waite Park, who died January 23, 2011, at his home with his family by his side. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Waite Park. The Reverend Matthew Kuhn will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Dick was born on August 23, 1939, in St. Cloud, to Harold and Helen (Athen) Schmitt. He graduated from Tech High School in 1957. Dick served in the US Marine Corps from 1957-1959. Dick married Marjorie Schuster on October 10, 1964 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park, MN. He worked for McDowell Company for 35 years, and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local #10. Dick loved to hunt, fish, camp, play cards and go to the lake. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by his daughters, Kim Schmitt of St. Cloud, Kelly (Brian) Haffner of St. Joseph, MN, and grandson Joshua (Malorie) DeWenter of St. Cloud, sister Phyllis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marge, son Shawn, brothers Donald and Robert.
