Melvin Wuertz

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry for Melvin P. Wuertz, age 83, of Lake Henry, who died on Tuesday at Glen Oakes Care Center in New London.  Rev. Leo Leisen will officiate.  Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.  Friends may call on Friday between 4:00-9:00 PM at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour prior to services at the church.  Parish Prayers will be at 6:00 PM followed by the Catholic Order of Foresters at 7:30 PM 

Melvin was born May 19^th, 1923 near Lake Henry to William and Margaret (Waldorf) Wuertz.  He married Theresa Seiferman on September 1^st, 1952 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill.  He farmed near Lake Henry most of his life and retired in 1987.  Melvin was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. 

Melvin loved to fish, play cards, watch his grandsons and nephews play baseball, go to birthday parties, visit his son’s farms, and be with family and friends. 

Survivors include his children; Judy Hanson (Larry) New London, Barb Hanson (Russ) Spicer, Harvey Wuertz (Denise) Regal, Eugene Wuertz (Lori) Lake Henry, Donna Wiczek (Steve) Nisswa, Nancy Nelson (Bruce) New London, and Bill Wuertz (Lynn) Paynesville.  21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Vivian Mueller , Regal, Lorraine Ehresmann (Romuald) St. Martin, Art Wuertz (Leona) Lake Henry, and Vernon Wuertz (Pat) St. Paul. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Theresa on October 1, 1997.
