Marcus M. Schlangen

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Marcus M. Schlangen, age 85, of St. Cloud who passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend LeRoy Scheierl will officiate. Burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church. Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Marcus was born on September 18, 1927 in Richmond, Minnesota to Joseph and Katherine (Stang) Schlangen. He married Florina Kalthoff on September 5, 1951 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Farming. Marcus was a farmer all of his life. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Catholic United Financial.

Marcus enjoyed farming and woodworking. He loved spending time with his family; they were his pride, joy, and number one concern.

Marcus is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florina; children, Elmer (Dionne) of St. Cloud, Jerome (Beth) of Benson, Dorothy (Gary) Hadrich of Holdingford, Michael (Shirley) of St. Cloud, Bernard of St. Cloud, Viola (Donald) Dinndorf of St. Augusta, Beverly (Craig) Diedrich of Sauk Rapids, Gordon (Kimberly) of Rockville, Joseph (Amy) of Clear Lake, Kurt (Jodi Haus) of Becker; 32 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Miranda Lauer, Bertha Braegelmann, Annamae Fleischhacker; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and sisters.
