Funeral Services will be on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 12:30 PM at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud, MN for Leslie Allen Fiskum age 64 of St. Cloud who died at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. The Reverend Al Stangl will be officiating. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 4 PM to 8 PM and on Monday one hour prior to the services all at Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Leslie was born on May 4, 1947 the son of Alvin L. and Carole F. (Okins) Fiskum at Minot, ND. He grew up in Minot attending school and graduating from Minot High School in 1965. He was inducted into the United States Army on July 13, 1967 at Fargo, ND. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict as a door gunner on a helicopter in the 117th Aviation Company and also with Special Forces in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from active duty on February 15, 1969 and from reserve status on July 1, 1973. He attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND from 1969 to 1971, where he studied to be an electrician.
He was united in marriage to Lois J. Lorenz on September 4, 1971 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Minot, ND. Two children were born to this union. After marriage, Leslie worked as an electrician for the IBEW Local #714 in Minot until 1986 when their family moved to St. Cloud, MN. He then continued working as an electrician at Fingerhut in St. Cloud. He retired 9 years ago because of his health. He has continued to live in St. Cloud since that time.
His hobbies included watching NASCAR and any type of car racing, camping, telling stories, reading, coin collecting, going to car shows, country music, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a very loving husband and they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in September.
He was a member of IBEW Local #714 and American Legion Post 26 both of Minot, ND.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandfather Roy Okins.
Leslie is survived by; his wife Lois of St. Cloud, one daughter Laurie (Joe) Christen and one son Kenneth Fiskum all of St. Cloud, two grandsons Ryan and Kaden, his dad Alvin (Elaine) Fiskum of Minot, ND, two brothers, Randy (Laura) Fiskum of Woodbury, MN and Vaughn (Kim) Fiskum of Minot, ND other relatives and many friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Johnson and the staff at St. Cloud Hospital for all their excellent care.
