Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Irene M. Tomczik, age 90, of St. Cloud who passed away Friday, August 25 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Marvin Enneking will officiate. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may call between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Monday and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. The St. John Cantius Rosary Sodality will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Irene was born on November 23, 1915 in Spring Hill, Minnesota to Walter and Katherine (Stalberger) Winter. She married Clarence C. Tomczik on May 30, 1941 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Irene was employed by Vision Ease, Dan Marsh Drugs and finally by School District 742 as a lunch cashier at Tech High School. She retired in 1980. Irene was a member of St. John Cantius Parish and Rosary Sodality, and the St. Margaret’s/St. Joseph’s Society.
Irene was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. She was an excellent cook, loved to play cards and was a Twins and Vikings fan.
Irene is survived by her children, Gerald S. (Judy) of Sauk Rapids, Karen A. Janssen (Roger) of Santee, California, Richard G. (Kathy) of Foothills Ranch, California, and William L. (Lynn) of St. Cloud; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Ernest Winter (Eleanor) of St. Cloud; sister, Lorayne Primus of Swanville; sisters-in-law, Virginia Winter of St. Cloud, Bernie Winter of Greenwald and Joan Winter of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Katherine (Stalberger) Winter; step-mother, Veronica (Weyman) Winter; husband, Clarence on November 19, 2001; sister, Esther Heinen; brothers, Clarence, Othmar, and Elmer Winter.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
