Floyd J. Ross

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10: 30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at St Michael’s Catholic Church, for Floyd J. Ross, age 88, of St. Cloud, who passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the St. Cloud Veteran’s Medical Center. Reverend Matthew Kuhn will officiate. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Cloud with military honors.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (TODAY) at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Parish Prayers will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by the St. Cloud Eastside VFW Post #4847 Ritual at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Floyd was born October 28, 1921 in St. Cloud, MN to Joseph I. and Sophie (Brinkman) Ross. He married Edwina (Eddie) Bromenschenkel on May 16, 1944 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Floyd graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School and St. Cloud Technical College. He worked for Trojan Metal Works, Franklin Manufacturing and retired as a sales representative from DeZurik Corporation. Floyd enjoyed music, painting, fishing, and woodcarving which he taught to many friends and family. Floyd was happiest when family and friends were together.

He was a World War II Veteran, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a life member of the St. Cloud Eastside Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4847, a member of AERIE #662 Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was also a past member of the Central Minnesota Woodcarvers Association and St. Michael’s Church Choir.

He is survived by his wife, Edwina of 66 years; their 8 Children; Diane (Bill) Weyer of Sartell, MN, Floyd Thomas (Karyl) Ross of Avon, MN, Janice (Fred) Rudolph of St. Cloud, MN, Steven (Joan) Ross of Bemidji, MN, Bob (Sharon) Ross of St. Joseph, MN, Paul Ross of Randall, MN, Michele Ross of Minneapolis, MN, and Doug (Sue) Ross of Sauk Rapids; 10 Grandchildren; Brenda, Bill, Glen, Fred, Zachary, Emily, Brianna, Adam, Andrea, and Eli; 5 Great Grandchildren; Nick, Madelyn, Laney, Lila and Devon; and his brother, Jerry Ross of St. Stephen, MN .

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Clarence, Roman, Elmo and Bill Ross.

The family wants to express their appreciation to The St. Cloud Veterans Medical Center and especially the nursing staff that provided outstanding and compassionate care for Floyd.
