Dear Joyce, Marion & I cannot tell you how sorry we are to hear of Don’s death. It seems like such a shock. We had no idea that he was even sick or not feeling well. A memorial mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell for Donald E. Heitzman age 70 of Sartell who passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home. Reverend Lauren Germann will officiate. Interment with military honors will take place at the parish cemetery in Sartell.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the gathering space at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell. Parish prayers will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church gathering space in Sartell. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, Sartell.
Donald was born in Holdingford, Minnesota on August 29, 1939 to Frank and Caroline (Gerads) Heitzman. He graduated from Holdingford High School in 1957. Donald served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Joyce M. Kociemba on June 15, 1963 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. Donald was employed as a foundry worker for DeZurik in Sartell for over 28 years retiring in 2002. He was a 20-year member of Sartell-LeSauk Fire Department, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622, the Family friends Card Club, St. Francis Xavier parish and served on the Cemetery Board.
Donald loved reading, watching sports, especially attending his grandchildren’s events, playing cards with family and friends, traveling and family vacations.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; son, Ken (Jeanne) of Spicer; daughter, Susan (Dale) Maciej of Breezy Point; five grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Michael, Grant and Samantha; brothers, Leo of Maple Grove, Victor of St. Cloud; and sister, Lucille Stangler of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John; and brother, Clarence.
