Clara J. Meyer

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Clara J. Meyer, age 92, of St. Cloud will be at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Clara died on Dec. 6, 2008 at the Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. The Rev. Greg Lieser will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.

Family and friends may call between 4-8 pm on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 11:30 am on Tuesday at St. Peter’s Church. Daughters of Isabella will pray the rosary at 4:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home followed by St. Peter’s parish prayers, Legion of Mary and the Christian Women at 7 pm.

Clara Josephine Meyer was born on March 28, 1916 in Waite Park, MN the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Geisel) Pohl. She married Frank L. Meyer on June 26, 1934 at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Waite Park. She lived in the St. Cloud area most of her life until the last year and a half when she moved to the Apple Valley Villa Senior Highrise and Centennial House in Apple Valley, MN near her oldest son Leland.

Clara was a charter member of St. Peter’s parish since it’s beginning in 1947, a longtime member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Legion of Mary, a founding member of the Resurrection Choir and volunteered at St. Peter’s school library. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, shopping, playing cards and being with her family and friends. Clara will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her children: Carol Erickson of Litchfield, Leland (Sharon) of Lakeville, Twyla Meyer (Thomas Schultz) of Pomona, CA, S. Frank (Colleen) of McMinnville, TN; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; brother Joseph of Waite Park and sister Alvina (John) Horton of Palmer, AK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank L Meyer in 1991, son Noel in 1975, sister Madeline Beck, great grandson Xavier Meyer, son-in-law Calvin Erickson and daughter-in-law Jean Meyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
