Amanda was born July 9, 1982 in Moorhead, MN, to Mark and Allison (Stocker) Garrett. She attended Horace Mann Elementary school in Fargo, ND where she was a friend to many and enjoyed riding bike to the local mall and parks. She was creative and entrepreneurial from an early age. She could be seen selling friendship bracelets, making rock soup, or hosting a fashion show in the backyard. She had a passion for music and dance and a unique ability to connect with animals. She adored being a big sister to Sarah and served as a protector, guide and mentor. Amanda continued her love for friendship, music, art and dance while she attended and graduated from Maple Grove, MN Senior High.
Amanda met the love of her life, her rock and life partner of 18 years, William Buck, while attending college together in St. Cloud, MN. They created a life full of love, bonded over their love of music, cooking, reading, movies, and rarely missed the Simpson’s and Bob’s Burgers. They cared for their beloved pets, Peanut, Smoosh, Rivers, and Arrow. Amanda enjoyed spending time with her animals, sitting in a ray of sun, taking walks and a good cuddle. She cherished being an aunt and was the best “Auntie” and second mom to Garrett and Scarlett, her nephew and niece. They enjoyed reading countless books, trips to parks, wading pools, dairy queen, school, sport events and the gardens.
She shared fond memories of childhood listening to music in the pickup, bringing lunch to the fields, and counting elevators slips with her dad. As well as creating art projects, visiting Japan, and swimming in the lake with her mom. She enjoyed looking for bluebird eggs in the evergreens, building snow forts and candlelight service on Christmas Eve. She loved the time spent having fun at the lake cabins and farm with her grandparents and cousins. She learned to garden, sew and cook with her mom and grandmas, and had days of mischievous fun with her sister and friends.
Amanda was beautiful and naturally gifted. She loved music and enjoyed many concerts with friends and family, rocking out to more than 30, frequenting her favorite band, Korn, at several venues. She always knew the perfect song to share or words to say. Friends and family will always remember Amanda for her caring heart, loving nature, humor, quick wit, intelligence and insatiable hunger for knowledge. She took great pride in being a good friend and listener.
Amanda was preceded in death by her aunt, Angela “Angie” Garrett and great grandparents. Her beloved pets Smoosh, Peanut, and Rivers.
