Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Allen O. McSherry, age 76 of Albany and formerly of Pequot Lakes who passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany. Reverend Timothy Wenzel will officiate. Interment will be at the Pinewood Cemetery in Cross Lake, Minnesota.
Friends may call on Monday (TODAY) from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Allen was born on November 5, 1929 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Hugh and Pearl (Robertson) McSherry. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Allen married Renee A. Luger on April 30, 1955 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in North St. Paul. He owned and operated Allen’s Market and sold real estate in Cross Lake. Allen later was employed by the Brainerd State Hospital until his retirement in 1992. He lived most of his married life in the Cross Lake and Pequot Lakes area. He was a former member of St. Alice’s parish in Pequot Lakes.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Renee of Albany; children, Cynthia McSherry, M.D. of Maple Grove, Allen McSherry of Waite Park, Christopher (Mellisa) McSherry of Arvada, Colorado, Monica (Daniel) Beumer, Psy.D. of St. Cloud; daughter-in-law, Sheri McSherry of Pequot Lakes; nine grandchildren, Kelly, Leo, Kristin, Michael, Annelise, Melia, Justin, Jordan and Jared; two great grandchildren, Ava and Calen; brother and sister, John McSherry of St. Paul and Ruby Iverson of Emily.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, LT. Leo McSherry, USN; and brother, Hugh McSherry.

What a wonderful tribute to Al. My condolences. I have so many good memories of Al and Renee for their kindness and caring. They could always be counted on in a crisis. I hope Renee is doing well. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I was so sorry to read in the Brainerd Dispatch that AL had passed away. I worked with Renee and AL for many years at BRHSC. They were wonderful to work with and we had so many good laughs. My sympathy to Renee and the family. The photo tribute was exceptional.
