Walter A. Korman

May 7, 1914 – December 13, 2011

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta for Walter A. Korman, age 97, of St. Augusta, who died on Tuesday at Quiet Oaks Hospice in St. Augusta. Rev. Robert Rolfes will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday between 4:00-8:00PM and on Saturday after 9:30 AM at St. Mary’s Help of Christians parish center in St. Augusta. Parish Prayers will be on Friday evening at 7:00 PM.

Walter was born May 7th, 1914 in Holdingford Township, Stearns County, to Anton and Margareth (Kosel) Korman. He married Alice Namyst on September 21st, 1937 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. He was employed as a finisher at Franklin Manufacturing for 27 years. He also farmed in St. Augusta Township from 1938-1971. Walter retired in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church , Nocturnal Adoration Society, and International Machinists Union Local #623.

Survivors include children, Ken Korman (Dorothy) St. Augusta, Carol Eversman (Lloyd) St. Augusta, Mary Gillham (Michael) Becker, Therese Haus (El) St. Augusta, Barbara Styles (Joe) St. Cloud, John Korman (Pamela) Mendota Heights, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Claude Korman, Gold Canyon, Arizona, Isabelle Fabeck, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Joseph Korman, Sartell, Art Korman, St. Cloud, Lorene Krupa, Coon Rapids, George Korman, Taylor, Michigan and Geraldine Bialka, Sauk Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, December 5th, 2002, brothers, Robert, Alexander and Raymond, and sister, Marie Pierskalla, and granddaughter Kateri Korman Chopp.

The family would especially like to thank the staffs at St. Benedict’s Assisted Living in Monticello and Quiet Oaks Hospice in St. Augusta for the extraordinary care given their father.
