Yvonne M. Barsness

May 10, 1941 – April 1, 2015

Funeral Services for Yvonne M. Barsness, age 73, of Paynesville, will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. Yvonne passed away April 1, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital with her loving family at her side. Burial will take place in the Paynesville Cemetery in Paynesville at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Yvonne Marie Fasching was born May 10, 1941 near Watertown, MN to Adolph “Ted” and Marge (Scheiber) Fasching. She attended and graduated from Holy Trinity School in Winsted. She married Dale Barsness on July 6, 1963 at Holy Trinity Church in Winsted. She worked at General Mills until 1964 and then worked at the West Central Tribune in Willmar, a newspaper in Seymour, Indiana, as a chef at Peter’s Resort in Glenwood, MN, the Southern Minnesota Beet COOP in Renville and MERTEC in Olivia.

Yvonne loved the outdoors, especially fishing. She also enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and friends and would challenge anyone to a game of cards, Scrabble (which she almost always won) and Dominos. She will be remembered as a caring and loving mother and friend and a devoted wife to Dale.

Yvonne is survived by her husband Dale of 52 years in July, children Paul (Denise) Barsness, Lynette (Gary) Schreifels and Lisa (Bob) Jewell, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

Yvonne is further survived by a sister Barbara (Harlen) Stender; brothers–in–law and sisters–in–law, Lorraine (Orville) Felt, Deanna (Mel) Roller, Everell (Patty) Barsness, Rebecca (Danny) Janish and Joann Fasching; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ted and Marge, mother and father-in-law Everall and Emma Barsness, brother Eugene Fasching, and four grandchildren Sarah, Samantha, Jeremy and Erin Rose McDougle.

Rest in Peace Vonnie! I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Vonnie. She was such a free spirit and a wonderful woman. My thoughts and prayers to all the family!

How I miss spending time with you mom and taking care of you. Always looked forward to mon. And thurs. I wish I could talk to you and get a smile and a kiss
But, I know you’re at peace and no longer having to suffer. It is almost exactly 7 days since you took your last breath when I was sitting beside you. Mom you were a truly an amazing and beautiful person. I love you lisa

Many happy memories with you and all the kids. Lynette, I think of you often. Boys– too many memories to choose one or two to put in here. I will be praying for you and remembering Yvonne tenderly.
