Victor J. Kunkel

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Victor J. Kunkel, 90, of St. Cloud will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2014 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Vic passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Cherrywood in Richmond with family by his side. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Cloud.

Family and friends may call between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Vic was born on March 27, 1924 in Pearl Lake, Minnesota to the late Joseph and Rose (Holthaus) Kunkel. He graduated from Cathedral High School. Vic married Viola Klaverkamp on May 6, 1947 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta. He was employed as a salesman most of his working career. He also drove for Executive Express and was a courtesy driver at Gilleland. Vic was a member of St. Peter’s Parish and the St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622.

Vic enjoyed bowling, boating and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Vi of Richmond; children, Gary (Sharon) of St. Joseph, Jean (Ray) Schwartz of St. Cloud, Roger (Pat) of St. Cloud, Joe (Vicki) of Pearl Lake; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Al (Sadie) of St. Cloud; and sisters, Hermie (Ken) Albers of Luxemburg, Beatrice Ackley of St. Cloud, Vera (Dick) Kulus of Golden Valley, Joanie (Butch) Helget of Clearwater, Delrose (Gene) Kuykendall of California.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Donald, Dave and Danny; and sister, Bridget Wagner.
