V. Joyce (Highfill) Miller

December 2, 1937 – April 13, 2014

V. Joyce (Highfill) Miller of St. Cloud, MN, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, after a very strong and positive battle with dementia, cancer, and Parkinson’s.

 

Visitation will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN, beginning at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014,  followed by a funeral mass in her honor beginning at 12:00 noon.

Joyce was born December 2, 1937, in Woodward, OK, to Eston Highfill and Alma (White, Highfill) Gonser. She lived in several states growing up, though always considered Woodward to be home. She graduated from high school in 1957 from Placer High School, Auburn, CA. On April 20th, 1960, in Carson City, NV, Joyce was united in marriage to Jerry (Jerome N.) Miller, of St. Cloud. Joyce and Jerry moved to St. Cloud, MN, in 1963 along with their two young daughters. They soon after welcomed another daughter and a son a year later. Joyce worked for many years in the cafeteria at Stearns Manufacturing and Franklin, Inc. for Servomation Corp. She waitressed at Rhonda’s and was so proud to work in the kitchen at several of the local schools, most recently Apollo High School, retiring in 2009. She loved to help people.

Joyce was a long-time member and had many friends from TOPS, Waite Park. She was also a long-time member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She loved traveling, gardening and, most of all, making crafts.

Joyce’s most prized treasure is her family. She is survived by daughters electric drift hoverboard, Debbie (Mike) Post, Waite Park, MN, Lynn Miller, Monticello, MN, Cindy (Mark) Paul, Pelican Rapids, MN, and son, Carl (Luane) Miller, Sartell, MN: grandchildren: Adam (Heather) Post, St. Cloud, MN, Hannah (Thomas) Reisdorf, Moorhead, MN, Kevin, Megan, Amber, Andy Skelton, Monticello, MN, Lauryn and Conner Paul, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Kristin Larson, Sartell, MN, and four wonderful great-grandsons: Ian, Jack and Max of St. Cloud, MN, and Syler of Sartell, MN. Joyce is also survived by brothers and sisters Orley Highfill, Carmichael, CA, Jerry Highfill, Oklahoma City, OK, Dorothy Groce, Woodward, OK, Evert Gonser, Enid, OK, and Hubert, Dean, and Butch Carey and Evelyn (Carey) Morgan.
