Theresa K. Carland

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the Church of St. Timothy in Maple Lake for Theresa K. Carland, age 71, of Maple Lake, who passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo. Reverend John Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Cemetery in Clearwater. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the Church.

Theresa was born on June 7, 1946 to Louis Roderick and Alverna Josephine (Grieser) Lane in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from the Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield.  Theresa married Richard I. Carland on July 19, 1975 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Minneapolis. To this union, three children were born; they later separated. Theresa held many jobs throughout her life. In her early life, she worked for the State of Minnesota in various positions and later became a stay at home mom to help raise her children. Prior to retiring, she worked for several years at Lunds & Byerlys in Burnsville as a customer service representative in the bakery department. She was a member of the Church of St. Timothy in Maple Lake.

Theresa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time at her farm, tending to and riding her horses. In her earlier years, she enjoyed taking her show horses to many exhibitions and fairs in the area. She also enjoyed going to Canterbury Park to watch horse races and going to the casino.

She is survived by her children, Eric Carland, of Waite Park, Marlena (Justin) Waldrum, of Albertville, and Stephen (Audrey) Carland of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Madilynn, Oliver, Avery; siblings, Joseph (Marilyn) Lane, of Des Moines, IA, and Janet DeShaw and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
