Dr.Idzerda recruited me to attend MSU in 1961. After I left to attend Ohio State the next year we lost touch with each other. I did not realize that he was living in MN when we moved here in 1978 and when I saw an article about him in the Star-Tribune in (1994)? I intended to get in touch with him again to thank him for all the help he gave me at MSU. My biggest regret is that I never made that phone call or sent that letter to be able to tell him in person how much he helped form my college career.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, at the Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, MN, for Stanley J. Idzerda, age 93 of St. Joseph, who died August 6, 2013. Burial will be in St. Benedict’s Monastery Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Sacred Heart Chapel gathering place from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the chapel.
Stan was born June 4, 1920, in Brooklyn, New York to Hendrik Idzerda and Teresa (Kempf) Idzerda. He served in the United States Navy from 1940 through 1946. He married Geraldine Waters of Sharon Center, Ohio on October 26, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Akron, Ohio. Shop best replica watches online, very quality watch.
Stan earned a PhD in history at Western Reserve University in 1951. Thereafter, he served as a scholar, teacher and administrator in several universities until 1968, when he was named president of the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph. Following the end of his audemars pigeut replica term as president in 1974, he served as a faculty member in the College until his retirement in 1990. Stan was an Oblate of St. Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph.
He is survived by his children: Ann Check of Dimondale, MI; Geraldine Idzerda (Robert Massey) of Yaka, Okinawa; William (Jody) of Farmington, NM; Christopher (Trilby) of Indianapolis, IN; Mary (Dana) Perko of Helena, AL; James of St. Joseph, MN; Catherine Idzerda (Randy Thompson) of Edgerton, WI; his brother, Henry of Foley, AL, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, special family friend Lisa Knettel replica breitling watches and the Sisters of the Monastery of St. Benedict’s – prayer partners, colleagues, supporters, friends of the whole family for over forty years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gerry, his parents and his brother William.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Benedict’s Monastery.
