Diane, Kristen & Joy, Our heartfelt sympathy to you on Ron’s passing. We have many happy memories of being your neighbors on Poppy Rd. Diane, you & Ron were always so friendly. Ron was a dedicated walker and hard to imagine this terrible illness could strike him down. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 22 at 1:00 PM at Love of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for Ronald C. Bettermann, 69, of St. Cloud. Ron passed away on May 18, 2015 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House. The Reverend Paul Hennings will officiate. Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 23 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM on Friday at Love of Christ Lutheran Church.
Ron was born on November 18, 1945 in Bertha, MN to Clarence and Lillian (Hartfiel) Bettermann. He graduated from Parkers Prairie High School with the honor of being a state wrestling champion. Ron then attended St. Cloud State University. He married Diane Rau on May 25, 1968 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN. Ron served in the US Army as a Medic from 1967-1969 and was stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Ron enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, camping, and was an avid Minnesota sports fan. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his generous love. Ron worked as a production manager in manufacturing for most of his career.
Ron is survived by: his wife Diane; children, Joy (Jay) Tyrrell, Kristen Bettermann; grandchildren Nolan, Braden, Jack, Lilly, Maren, Ella; brothers and sisters, Gene, Vernon (Ruth), Larry (Sue), Donald (Carol), Doreen, Muriel Lusso-Quiggle, Jim (Raynee), Deanna (Jim) Evens, Randy, and Alice Gergen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Blaine Bettermann.
He will be deeply missed. A huge thank you to all of those who assisted and supported Ron on his journey with ALS.
