Robert (Bob) was born on October 22, 1955 in Wickford, Rhode Island, the son of Robert I. and Bertie Lou (Pelloquin) Thompson. He grew up in Frederic, WI, graduating from High School in 1974. He graduated from the University of MN, and later earned a degree in teaching from Illinois State University.

He was united in marriage to Karen Dahlstrom in St. Louis Park, MN on November 25, 1983. Together they have two sons.

Bob’s true calling was teaching. He last worked as an 8th grade science teacher at South Junior High school in St Cloud, MN. It was a job he truly loved.

He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, devoted dad, great friend and encourager, and a man of great but quiet faith. Those who knew him well loved his sense of humor, kindness and reassuring presence.

In addition to his dedication to family and students, Bob loved lakes, mountains, travel, sunrises, and clouds. He enjoyed working with wood and following the Green Bay Packers.

His family requests that any memorials go to South Junior High School in St Cloud, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Karen of St. Cloud; two sons, David of St. Cloud and Tom of St. Paul, MN; three sisters, Sue (Glenn) Solin of Duluth, MN, Laurie (Eric) Anderson of Fridley, MN and Kristie (Dan) Buchman of Duluth, MN; one brother Craig Thompson of Duluth, MN, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Karen & Family,

Mike

I’m so sorry for your loss… God Bless you and your family!

Our deepest sympathies for your loss.

David, I just learned of your dad’s passing. I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you.

Karen and family. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Where I never met Robert, he had to be amazing to be your husband and partner in life. You were always kind to me and others, plus you had common sense wisdom. May friends and family surround you with love and compassion.

My deepest, heartfelt sympathies to Bob’s wife Karen and sons; as well as, his siblings and other family and friends. I did not know Bob personally, but it sounds like he was a wonderful person. I know his sister well and through Kristie I learned a lot about Bob. I know he will be truly missed. I am grateful for the memories you all have of Bob. He will live on in all of you.
God Bless you and carry you through.
