Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Lake Avenue Family Fellowship Church (formerly Calvary Baptist) in Paynesville for Philip F. Rud, age 102, of Paynesville. Phil passed away November 12, 2017 at the Paynesville Area Hospital. Reverend Gary Finken will preside. Burial will take place in the Paynesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, November 24 at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Phil was born February 2, 1915 in Irving Township, Kandiyohi County, MN to Paul and Cecelia (Christensen) Rud. He married Virginia Schroeder on May 28, 1938 on the Schroeder family farm northeast of Paynesville. He owned and operated Phil’s TV in Paynesville until he retired in 1977. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church (now Lake Avenue Family Fellowship) and the Gideon’s.
Phil is survived by his two sons Steve (Bridget) Rud of Wahkon, MN and Dan (Mei Mei) of Meridian, Idaho, seven grandchildren: Ron (Patti) Rud, Jeff (Giovanna) Rud, Tom (Linda) Rud, Jim (Marie) Rud, Darren (Becky) Rud, Tonia (Tim) Dean and Nick (Amy) Rud and 18 great grandchildren.
Preceding Phil in death were his parents, wife Virginia (2009), five brothers Lloyd, David, Clarence, Kermit and Warren Rud and five sisters Mae Peterson, Esther Seeland, Geneva Larson, Pearl Schmidt and Naomi Everson.
Memorials are preferred to the Gideon’s for bible purchases.
