Orlando C. Norstad, Jr.

March 18, 1940 – July 13, 2017

Orlando C. Norstad, Jr., age 77 of St. Cloud, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Country Manor Healthcare Center in Sartell. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, officiated by Reverend Dee Pederson. Interment with military honors will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Columbarium.

 

Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Orlando was born March 18, 1940 in Cannon Falls, Minnesota to Orlando and Edna (Paul) Norstad, Sr. He served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserve. Orlando was employed in the banking industry, he operated the Gateway Café and Station convenience store in Onamia, Orlando was a bookkeeper at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Sts. Peter, Paul and Michael School. After retirement he delivered cars for St. Cloud Hyundai. Orlando was united in marriage to Kathy M. Smelter on January 21, 1995 at Bethlehem Lutheran in St. Cloud. Orlando was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, gardening, photography and motorcycling.

Orlando is survived by his wife, Kathy of St. Cloud; his children, Sheri Brown of St. Cloud, Sandra (Doug) Dearen of Crestwood, Kentucky and Eric (Lisa) of International Falls; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Gary (Mary) of Dodge Center, Steve (Linda) of Cannon Falls, Jim (Bonnie) of Rushford, Jarle (Debra) of Cannon Falls, Deb Norstad of Cannon Falls and Kristi Fuller of Bearverton, Oregon; and sister-in-law, Martha Norstad of Lanesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob; and sister, RoseAnn Lindsey.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the care given to Orlando at the Country Manor Memory Care and Rehab Center, and also the love and support provided by St. Croix Hospice.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
