Mark R. Weller

September 2, 1953 – March 10, 2020

Mark R. Weller, age 66, of St. Cloud, died suddenly Tuesday March 10th, 2020.

Mark was born September 2, 1953, in St. Cloud, MN, son of Donald and Mardell (Engels) Weller. Mark graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1972.
Mark received a certificate to be an Emergency Medical Technician from Wadena Technical College in 1991. Taking his love for the medical field further, in 1994 Mark graduated from Northwest Technical College in Detroit Lakes with a diploma in Nursing.

He is survived by his wife Jackie; his two sons, Sam (Ashley) Weller of Rice, Luke Weller of Waseca; his four grandchildren, Jake, Kash,Annabelle and Sophia; his sisters Mariette DeMorett, Verdell (Larry) Rudolph, Florine (Dick) Armstrong, Roberta (Dave) Shellenberger, Lynette Johnson; his nieces, nephews and their families; and his first wife Donna Berry.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mark worked with the city of Browerville Ambulance Service as an Emergency Medical Technician, where he and his wife, at the time Donna, and their sons, Sam and Luke lived. After returning to school for his nursing degree, he moved to Minneapolis to work as a nurse.

He loved helping people who were in need of his service. He often talked about how he loved caring for the elderly and so enjoyed listening to them tell their stories. Mark always said they needed to share their stories to feel alive.

In 2018 Mark returned to the city close to his heart, St. Cloud.

Mark fought with his demons that created some distance between him and his family. He never stopped loving them and wanting to welcome them back in his life but struggled with the the ability to do so. Mark was so very proud of his sons and grandchildren.

Mark left us too soon and he will be dearly missed.

There will be no service at this time and burial will be at a later date.

Mark and I went to grade school together. We became close friends after high school. I am so sad to hear that he passed away. My heart aches knowing that he was back in St. Cloud. I wish he had reached out to me for a visit. What a great photo of my dear friend. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Hi – We went to high school and are so sad to hear about his passing. He was always such a sweet person and always kind to everyone. It doesn’t surprise us that he went into Health Care.

May he rest in peace.
