Margaret C. Engelmeier

November 27, 1931 – February 7, 2018

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. John Abbey Church in Collegeville, MN for Margaret Catherine Engelmeier, age 86 of St. Joseph, MN. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN following a brief illness. The Reverend Gregory Miller, O.S.B. will be the celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

Margaret “Marge” was born on November 27, 1931 in Albany, MN, the ninth of eleven children of Henry and Kathryn (Koppy) Theisen. She attended school in Albany and graduated from Albany High School in 1949. She was married to Pat Engelmeier in 1950 until his death in 2004.

She worked at Armour’s in South St. Paul as a member of the Amalgamated Meatcutters Union for 24 years and retired to their home on Big Watab Lake in 1985. Marge enjoyed traveling, working in her garden, playing cards and reading and was counted on to bring her pies for all family gatherings. She was thrilled to be chosen as the Grand Marshal of the July 4th 2017 Big Watab Boat Parade, smiling and waving throughout the tour.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pat, and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by sister Mary Litchy (Brainerd, MN), brother Herbert Theisen, (Cloquet, MN) and daughters Joyce Harvey (Bloomington, MN), Jean Butterfield (Maple Grove, MN), sons Chuck and Tom Engelmeier (So. St. Paul), and daughter Diane Dunagan (Maple Grove, MN), 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to St. John the Baptist Parish, Collegeville, MN.

Inurnment will be at a later date.

I’m sorry for your lost. My prayers are with you. Remembering many happy times visiting with the Engelmeier family; especially when we were kids at Thanksgiving and days at the lake and farm. Wonderful days gone by. In the later years it was always fun to visit Marge several times a year at her beautiful lake home.

So many memories of times spent together and having fresh apple pie when arrived from Montana to visit she will be truly missed
