Lyle A. "Manny" Morris

October 4, 1927 – July 29, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Lyle A. “Manny” Morris, age 89, of St. Cloud.  Manny passed away peacefully on July 29, 2017 at the St. Cloud V.A. Medical Center.  Reverend Gregory Lieser will officiate.  Entombment will take place in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum with full military honors.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.  The Waite Park American Legion Post 428 ritual will be held at 6 p.m. and the VFW Post 428 ritual will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Manny was born October 4, 1927 in St. Cloud, MN to Ernest and Anna (Richter) Morris.  He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1944-1948 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga.  He married Mary E. Kosel on February 1, 1951 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud.  He was employed by Bernick’s Bottling Company in St. Cloud until 1956 when he became self- employed as an over the road semi-truck driver until 1972.  Soon after, he operated King Coin Car Washes until his retirement in 1983.  He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, VFW Post 428, Waite Park American Legion Post 428, Moose Lodge #1400 and St. Cloud Eagles Club Aerie 622.

Manny is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Linda of Bloomington and Margie (Dan) Kippley of St. Cloud, 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 8 great grandchildren.

Preceding Manny in death were his parents, brothers Herbert, Harold, John, and Ernest and sisters Bernadine Schotl, Cassandra Pearson, Luella Kuechle, and Sally Meemken.

Manny’s family would like thank the physicians and staff at both the St. Cloud VA Medical Center and St. Cloud CentraCare for the excellent care he received.
