Leona L. Gobernatz

July 25, 1912 – February 9, 2016

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for Leona L. Gobernatz, age 103, of St. Paul, and formerly of Waite Park who passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Little Sisters of the Poor in St. Paul. Reverend David Grundman will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Church in Waite Park. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Leona was born on July 25, 1912 in Arban, Minnesota to John and Barbara (Meller) Hadrich. She married Gregor Streit on October 1930, he died in 1935. Leona then married Andrew Gobernatz on November 4, 1939 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. She lived most of her married life in Waite Park. She was a member of the Christian Women.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Rausch of St. Paul; 7 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son-in-law, Roger; granddaughter, Susan; sisters and brothers, Frances, Clara, Hilda, Richard, and George.

A Special Thank You to the Staff of Little Sisters of the Poor for all the care and support given to Leona and her family during her stay.
