December 12, 1952 – August 29, 2017

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Kenneth L. “Ken” Spanier, age 64 of St. Cloud who passed away on August 29, 2017 at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota as a result of an accident at his cabin on August 7th. Reverend Scott Pogatchnik will officiate. Private interment will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud and after 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
Ken was born December 12, 1952 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Ehresmann) Spanier. He graduated from St. Cloud State College with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management. Ken married Tami Eikmeier on May 19, 1979 at St. Wendelin’s Catholic Church in Luxemburg. He acquired and made Spanier Bus Service into the transportation company it is today. Ken was a developer and entrepreneur involved in limousine transportation (Pearl Limousine) student and assisted living housing and various other business entities.
He was a member of St. Augustine’s parish, Minnesota School Bus Operators Association where he served as past President and received the Jim DeBeau Award, National School Transportation Association where he received the Golden Merit Award, and a life sponsor of Ducks Unlimited.
Ken is survived by his wife, Tami; sons, Noah and Isaac “Ike” both of St. Cloud; brother and sister, Ron (Sharon) of St. Augusta and Pat (Tom) Kunkel of Oak Grove.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Tami, Noah and Isaac,
Our deepest sympathy at the passing of your husband and father. We were just shocked and saddened by the news. Our prayers and support are with you through this very difficult time. He was a strong leader for the school bus industry and his legacy will live on forever.

Tami, Noah, and Isaac. We send our deepest sympathies for this incredible loss. Ken was a great neighbor, boss and friend to our family always taking a minute to say Hi or see whats new. The Luxemburg community was lucky to have the Spanier Family be part of it and contibute in so many ways he will be missed by so many. In time may stores, pictures and memories heal your broken hearts. Thoughts and prayers to the Extended families as well.
