Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 17, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud, for Joseph L. Schwinghammer, 94, of St. Cloud, who died Friday, September 12, 2014. The Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Entombment will be at Assumption Cemetery, with full Military Honors.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 9:30-10:30 AM on Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be at 6:00 PM on Tuesday at the Church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Joe was born on June 21, 1920, in St. Cloud, to Joseph B. and Mary (Nierengarten) Schwinghammer. He served in the US Army Signal Corps during World War II. Joe married Louise J. Lucken on January 8, 1964, in St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Farming. He lived in St. Cloud for most of his life where he farmed and was employed by Dairyland, Purity Milk, and Performance Seed. He was a charter member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Joe is survived by: his wife, Louise; children, Kelly Jo (Kelly) Tempesta, Joseph B. (Lynn), Joel, Stacy, Jayne (Keith) Thole, Peggy (Brian) Shafer; grandchildren: Jake Tempesta, Brandon Schwinghammer, Taylor Schwinghammer, Mitchel Schwinghammer, Zach Thole, Brittany Thole, and Nicholas Thole.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.
