July 4, 1925 – August 20, 2015

Memorial services celebrating the life of John C. Thomson, 90, of St. Cloud and formerly of Mankato will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud. John passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Country Manor Assisted Living. Deacon Dave Lindmeier will officiate. Inurnment with military honors will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Cemetery in Braham.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
John was born on July 4, 1925 in Nessel Township, Chisago County, Minnesota to the late Carl H. and Agnes (Carlson) Thomson. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Dolores M. Jacobson on May 25, 1950 in Cambridge. John lived in St. Cloud for over 30 years and was employed for Nash Finch for 40 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428, the Whitney Senior Center Pool Club and CEO of C.R.S. (Can’t Remember Stuff).
John enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, playing cards and pool. He was an avid Twins and Vikings fan.
He is survived by his children, Gary (Jana) of Coon Rapids, Holly (Rick) Meyer of Forest Lake; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Sunde, Nicole and Alex (Elizabeth) Thomson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores in 2008; brothers and sisters, Clifford Thomson, Luverne Downs, Marion Johansen, Alice Schonberg and Lyle Thompson.
