Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Jean M. Skumautz, age 84 of St. Cloud who passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital with family by her side. Reverend Derek Wiechmann will officiate. Burial will take place at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at Church. Parish prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Jean was born on March 15, 1934 in St. Paul, MN to Albert and Genevieve (Friberg) Mamlock. Her family moved to St. Cloud when she was seven years old. Jean married James Skumautz on August 28, 1954 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. Jean worked as a cashier for Northern States Power Company, spent 17 years as a Para Professional at St. Anthony’s, McKinley, and Roosevelt schools, and was also a driver for Miller-Auto for many years. She raised two children with her husband during this time. Jean was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Christian Women, Funeral Choir, and was a founding member of the St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622 Auxiliary.
She enjoyed camping, crafting, casino trips, and card playing. Jean especially loved the time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Linda) of St. Cloud, Joan (Patrick) Thyen of Waite Park; grandchildren, Nicole (Reed) Hentges, Erin (Dan) Brum, and Joshua Thyen; great-grandchildren, William and Paige Hentges, and Lillian and Alex Brum; and one brother John Mamlock of Minneapolis.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in 2016; two infant sons; sisters, Gretchen Troness, and Corrine Cosgrove.
