James D. "Jim" Nahan

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN for James D. “Jim” Nahan, age 89 of St. Cloud. Jim passed away peacefully at his residence on October 12. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Entombment will take place in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday both at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Jim was born June 19, 1928 in St. Cloud, MN to James and Florence (Schepers) Nahan. He graduated from Cathedral High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Helen T. Mechavich on June 21, 1951 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Jim worked for the St. Cloud Times until 1962, when Jim and his wife Helen established Nahan Printing and worked closely together until their retirement in 1989. Throughout his life Jim served his community in many civic and religious service clubs, most notably on the St. Cloud City Council for over four terms.

Jim’s love of life and his family, along with his witty sense of humor, will be truly missed by all.

Jim is survived by his children Michael and wife Connie of Sartell, Linda Linn of Sartell, Daniel “Danny” and wife Kim of Sartell and Tracy Nahan Bethell and husband Cory of St. Cloud, grandchildren; Patrick and wife Emily Nahan, Corey and wife Emily Linn, Danielle, Ryan, and Matthew Nahan, Jamie and Courtney Bethell and three great grandchildren; sisters Betty (Art) Warren of St. Cloud, Marge (Ollie) Lesnick of St. Joseph, Rosie (Mel) Lovitz of Sauk Rapids, Emmalou (Herb) Torborg of St. Joseph and sister-in-law Sheila Nahan of Sartell as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife Helen (2006), parents, infant brother, brothers Thomas and Richard and sister-in-law Ursula, nieces Lisa and Ann McGuire and Linda’s partner Mark Correll.
