Helen M. Bursch

January 26, 1918 – August 30, 2014

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Helen Margaret Bursch, age 96, of Richfield and formerly of St. Cloud. Helen passed away at ‘The Lodge’ (hospice) in Elko, MN on Saturday, August 30, 2014. Reverend Al Stangl will officiate. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday all at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Helen was born January 26, 1918, in Bovey, MN to Dr. Edward and Verena Seguin.  She attended Eveleth Junior College. Helen moved to St. Cloud for her job, where she met and married George Joseph Bursch.  Her life centered around her six children and her faith, praying for each one daily.  She enjoyed occasional evenings out with the ‘orchestra wives’ and going to dances when George played percussion with the Al May band. More recently, she enjoyed playing 500 and winning spelling bees with new friends at Mainstreet Village in Richfield.  She was a devoted Catholic and a longtime member of St. John Cantius Parish in St. Cloud.     

Helen is survived by her children, George (Julie), Robert (Marlyce), Mary Hanlon, John (Bernice), Bonnie (Dirk) Megarry, and June (Brent) Thielen; grandchildren: Jamie (Kent) Klausing, Scott (Stephanie) Hanlon, Phillip Hanlon, Troy (Cheryl) Bursch, Jennie Bursch, Randy (Kim) Bursch, John (Angela) Bursch, Carrie (Daniel) Marcotte, Daniel (Ashlee) Bursch, Ali Megarry, Erin Megarry, Marat Thielen and Madina Thielen; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Flo Ostergaard and  Bernice Weyrauch; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Joseph, grandchildren, Christopher Thomas Bursch and Paige Elizabeth Thielen; and her nine siblings, Edward, Armand, Arthur, Clarence, Verena, Evelyn, Delores, Hazel, and Alice.

June, I am so sorry for your loss. My sincerest condolences. Knowing how great of a person you are, I am sure Helen was a wonderful mother. May you take solace in the fact she lived such a long life (though I know it never seems long enough), and cherish the moments you had with her. You will be in my thoughts. Sending my Love.

Wonderful memories from years past, such a great aunt. Rest in Peace Aunt Helen.
