Gary J. Kirchner

July 11, 1939 – January 15, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 20, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Gary J. Kirchner, 75, of St. Cloud, who died unexpectedly on January 15, 2015. The Reverend Mark Innocenti will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and from 9:30 – 10:30 AM on Tuesday at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
Gary was born on July 11, 1939, the son of James and Alvina (Trappen) Kirchner. He was a graduate of Technical High School. He served in the US Navy from 1957-1961 and was a Reservist. He was a supervisor with the US Postal Service. Gary was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie 622, the Moose Lodge 1400 and the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post 428. He was a past board member of the St. Cloud Federal Credit Union. Gary was an avid bowler, golfer, and loved to take family vacations and trips to the casino.
Gary is survived by: his wife of 48 years, Rose; children: Amy Kirchner of Sauk Rapids, Brenda (Kevin) Schmidt of St. Joseph, Charles “Chuck” (Candace) of Sauk Rapids; grandchildren: Christopher, Benjamin, Cora; sister Sandra (Jerry) Kostreba, brothers John and Craig.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jean Kirchner.

Gary was a superb postal manager and a wonderful man. My deepest condolences to his family, of whom he was so very proud.

Donna and I were so sorry to hear about the passing of Gary. Gary was a great husband, a great Father, and just a wonderful person to have known. Gary will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of spending time with him. Please know Rose and family that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are deeply saddened over the loss of Gary. What a fun-loving cousin he was! We always enjoyed being around him. He will be missed by all who knew him. I am shocked to hear about the passing of Gary. He was a great man and will surely be missed by all that knew him.

Sorry for your loss

I am so shocked to hear of Gary passing. What a sad time for all who were fortunate to have known Gary. He was my supervisior at the St.Cloud Post Office and what a wonderful man. He is going to be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers to Rose, Brenda, Amy, Chuck and all your families. May all the wonderful memories of your husband and dad get you through this most difficult time.

We are so sorry to hear this sad news. Gary had such a zest for life. We are so grateful we were able to have such a nice visit in Arizona last Spring. Our hearts go out to the whole family. We will all miss him.
