Daniel Funeral Home & Cremation Service

Esther Fiedler

January 30, 1931 – July 27, 2016

Esther Fiedler passed away peacefully with her husband by her side at her home in St Cloud on Wednesday, July 27th. She was 85 years old. It was Esther’s wish to be cremated, so there will be no open casket. However, there will be a visitation filled with photos and cherished memories at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud from 4-7pm (TODAY), Friday, July 29th, 2016 with a short memorial service at 7pm. Please join us to celebrate the life of this amazing lady.

Esther was born in Duluth on January 30th, 1931. In September, 1955, she married Verne Fiedler and they had 6 children. The couple raised their family in Clearwater. After their family had grown, they were blessed with 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren (and still counting).

After retirement, Esther & Verne moved to Rice where they lived for nearly 17 years. In the last couple years of her life, due to declining health, they moved to Waite Park in the care of their daughters Mona and Nancy; and granddaughters: April, Megan and Melissa. Despite a loss of eyesight and most of her hearing, Esther experienced a newfound energy and vitality when she moved to the Cherrywood Advanced Living house in St. Cloud. The last few months of her life proved to be rich and fulfilling.

Esther was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years: Verne Fiedler; daughters: Mona Ritzer (Mark), Nancy Laughton, Denise Pollard (Rick), Tina Fiedler (Jeff); sons: Jim Fiedler (Kathy) and Jeff Fiedler (Beth); sister: Mae Hollinger; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dan & Esther Willeck; sister: June Filmore; brothers: Bill, Dave, John, George, Russell and Bob Willeck; grandsons: Jamie Diedrich and Eric Fiedler; great-granddaughters: Tehya and Rayne Giles; and mother-figure/very dear friend: Mrs. Charlotte Jensen.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the St. Cloud Cherrywood Advanced Living home for all their hard work and loving care, making Esther’s last months the best we could have ever hoped for. Also, the kindness and comfort they provided to the rest of the family in this extremely difficult time was appreciated beyond words and will never be forgotten.
