My Dearest Uncle Doug,
I will never forget the way you light up a room, make people laugh, make them feel special, loved and cared for. I have many wonderful memories on the farm with you and the family. You have the best hugs and always made time for us. Showed me about caring for animals and the responsibility of having animals. Will always remember your wit, sense of humor, kindness and yet how gentle you could be. This doesn’t say enough about how special you are and how much you are loved.
I love you and will miss you.

Shirley and family,
My Sympathy for all of you. Doug was always fun. The memories of when we would get together, I miss that! You are in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord comfort you with Peace and Strength. Blessings Always…

Shirley and family, so sorry for your loss of a wonderful husband and father. We had a few wonderful years of getting to know you and Doug, while we were in square dancing. Being mentors to us when we were presidents of the club.
We will all miss you Doug may God Bless you, Rest in Peace.

Uncle Doug gave us so many years of fishing, cards, laughter and love – I will miss him so much.

Shirley, Patty, Susie and Bobby. I call you those names because that is what I remember growing up. I’m sure you remember me as Joey. Doug will be greatly missed. I always iced it as a kid and we would go to your place or you would come to ours. I still can see it like yesterday with Doug, Shirley and my mom and dad siting at our dining room table playing cards. The electricity had gone out, but that didn’t matter. They just lit the old kerosene lamp and kept playing. I can still see Doug pulling in the driveway in that green Ford pickup to deliver another bag or two of Moormans dog food, or maybe just a quick visit while he stayed in his pickup and smoked his pipe. I can still smell that pipe tobacco. And he always lit it with a match.

There are a billion more memories that I hold very dear and will never forget. What a great thing to have known Doug.

I wish I could be there to see you all, but unfortunately I’m an over the road trucker and am out of state.

Take care and God bless and smile as you remember so many happy times.

Joey

Shirley,Patty, Sue, Bob: We had just talked of making another visit. So, sorry that we didn’t make that. What a flood of memories we have of your whole family. It was a joy to know all of you. We will miss Doug terribly but we know we will spend eternity with him. Each time we visited it was our intention to bring love and cheer and a blessing. But Doug always blessed us. We can still hear his “God bless you for coming” as we said our goodbyes. And we were greeted with hugs and sent off with another hug. We will see you Thursday and Friday.

My dear brother you will be missed, you left us with smiles of memories, you touched our hearts.

Shirley and family, we were so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing away. We will be praying for you all as you grieve his loss.I wish we could have made it back to Paynesville one more time to see you all before he died. We have such wonderful memories of you as our neighbors. Our kids love you both so very much! Every time we go fishing in our boat, we think about you both and talk about you both; good memories. The boys still have all of their little wooden toys that Doug made them over the years. We love you!
