Dale R. Barsness

July 19, 1938 – April 4, 2017

Funeral Services for Dale Rodger Barsness, age 78, of Paynesville, will be 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. Dale passed away April 4, 2017 at Quiet Oaks Hospice near St. Cloud with his loving family at his side. Burial will take place in the Paynesville Cemetery in Paynesville. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

 

Dale Rodger Barsness was born July 19, 1938 at Starbuck Hospital in Starbuck, MN, the son of Everall and Emma (Larson) Barsness. He attended and graduated from Starbuck High School. He attended Luther College in Decorah, IA and graduated from Southwest State Business College with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 serving 5 years. Dale united in marriage to Yvonne Marie Fasching on July 6, 1963 at Holy Trinity Church in Winsted. He then joined the U.S. Army Reserve retiring as a Master Sergeant after 30 years of combined military service. While he was in the Army Reserve he also worked various sales jobs in the Willmar and Danube area.

Dale was a kindhearted Christian man, a loving father and devoted husband, and a confidante to friends and family.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School Instructor and sang in the Men’s Choir, was a member of Paynesville American Legion Post 271, Willmar V.F.W. Post 1693, Paynesville Jaycee’s, Boy Scouts, and Indian Guides in Willmar, and U-Zone Volunteer, and Koronis Manor Volunteer in Paynesville, MN

Dale is survived by his children Paul (Denise) Barsness, Lynette (Gary) Schreifels and Lisa (Bob) Jewell, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.

Dale is further survived by; his sisters, Lorraine (Orville) Felt, Deanna (Mel) Roller, Rebecca (Danny) Janish, and a sister-in-laws Patty Barsness, Joann Fasching, Barbara (Harlen) Stender, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Yvonne Barsness, his parents, his brother Everall Barsness, Jr., his mother and father-in-law Ted and Marge Fasching, brother-in-law Eugene Fasching and four grandchildren Sarah, Samantha, Jeremy and Erin Rose McDougle.

Both my wife, Nancy, and I served together with Dale in different units. He had a very distinctive laugh and was a very good natured person. When we served as fellow NCO’s in the 825th Supply Company; he did a good job, was a competent leader and well-liked and respected by the soldiers he served with. We are sorry to hear of his passing. Our condolences to his family.

I visited Emma and Everell way back in 1981 and got warm memories from then. All the best!
