Carol Marie (Douvier) Schneider

Carol Marie (Douvier) Schneider, age 50, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from breast cancer at her home in Asotin, Washington with family and friends by her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Carol was born July 20, 1966, in St. Cloud to David and Rita (Hoffmann) Douvier. She was raised in St. Joseph and graduated from Apollo High School in 1984. Carol went on to St. Cloud State University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in 1994 and Master of Science degree in 1995. She moved to Norfolk, Nebraska and worked at Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation, where she met Mervin Schneider. Carol and Mervin married on Aug. 12, 2000, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lewiston, Idaho. They settled in Asotin, where they raised their children.

She was employed as an independent assessor for the Idaho Center for Disabilities Evaluation.

Carol was a wonderful mother who will be dearly missed. She was extremely selfless and helped many people throughout her life. She loved her pets, especially the many cats she had. She also enjoyed traveling, boating and camping.

Carol is survived by her husband, Mervin Schneider; mother, Rita Douvier; daughter, Amanda Almgren; son, Jacob Almgren; stepson, Brian Schneider; stepdaughter, Ashley Schneider; brothers, Brian and Chad Douvier; sister, Ann Bass; grandsons, Trevor Almgren, Korbin Keller, Jaxon Keller, Trey Schneider and Ryker Day; and nephew, Brice Douvier-Gore.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Douvier; brother, Daniel Douvier; grandparents, Joseph and Mary Douvier and Alphonse and Leona Hoffmann; uncles, Dale Hoffmann and Leon Hoffman; cousin, Joe Hoffmann; and aunt, Mary Hoffmann.
