Ann (Poepping) Koopmeiners

April 6, 1920 – November 27, 2016

Ann (Poepping) Koopmeiners, age 96 of St. Cloud went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 27, 2016. She passed away peacefully with family by her side at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at St. Peters Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Ann was born on April 6, 1920 in Albany, Minnesota to the late Ben and Olivia (Watercott) Poepping, the second child of a family of 10 siblings. She married Norbert A. Koopmeiners from Freeport on September 12, 1940 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany.

Ann & Norb lived in St. Joseph from 1940 to 1957 when they moved to St. Cloud. Ann moved to Sartell in 1997 and St. Benedict’s Senior Community campus in 2012.

After her children were grown, Ann worked at Cathedral High School as a cashier in the lunch room for 7 years. Her career took her to St. Cloud Hospital Coffee Shop where she worked part time for 17 years until retirement.

Ann cherished her family and the many summer vacations at the lake with her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting (afghans, doilies, etc.), sewing, and crafts of all kinds. Leisure time was spent going on various trips, including Germany, Hawaii and Alaska. Her favorite times included providing a “home cooked” meal for family and friends.

Ann is survived by her remaining children Arlene Freichels (Lloyd Schreiner), Sauk Centre, and Lois Lawson (Gene Lawson), Sartell; daughter-in-law, Candice Koopmeiners (Al Vouk), Sartell;10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers and a sister: Bernard Poepping, Sartell, Mrs. Arnold (Edna) Kremers, Sartell, Raymond Poepping, Pierz, Gerald Poepping, Albert Poepping and Clarence Poepping all of Burlington, WI.

Ann will be greeted in heaven by her husband Norbert, children LeRoy Koopmeiners and David Koopmeiners, grandchild Gary Freichels, her parents Ben and Olivia Poepping, son-in-law Vern Freichels, two sisters Hilda Poepping, Mrs. Edward (Josephine) Ruhoff and one brother Norbert Poepping.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. I knew your dad and Ann well. Norb used to call me Butch! They were both incredible people and I enjoyed the time I was able to spend with them.
