Alvina R. Sauer

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Alvina R. Sauer, 86, of St. Cloud will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Alvina passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Her nephew, Reverend John Sauer will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Alvina was born on May 31, 1929 in St. Cloud to the late Vincent and Veronica (Hemmelgarn) Witschen. She married Clarence Peter Sauer on October 11, 1958 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Alvina was employed at First American National Bank in St. Cloud for 40 years. She retired in 1994. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish and Christian Women and the Daughters of Isabella.
Alvina enjoyed playing cards, games, bingo and was an avid reader. She will be remembered for her love of family and her strong faith.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Sauer (Samuel Rest) of Naperville, IL, Deb Sauer (Jerome Yurczyk) of Sartell; granddaughters, Eva and Hannah Rest; and sisters, Rosemary Borgen of St. Louis Park, Annette (Rick) Kahlhamer of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1971; infant twin daughters; infant daughter, Mary Lou; infant son, Joseph; brothers, Jerome, Richard and Eldon “Butch” Witschen; and sisters, Ionella “Nellie” Blaske, Marcella “Mouse” Symalla and LuAnn Billig.
