Aloys E. "Al" Scheeler

October 19, 1916 – September 2, 2016

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Wendelin’s Catholic Church in Luxemburg for Aloys E. “Al” Scheeler, age 99 of Kimball who passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Sauk Rapids. Reverend Ronald Weyrens will officiate. Burial will take place with military honors at the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. at the church in Luxemburg. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by the St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428 at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Al was born October 19, 1916 in Maine Prairie Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Margaret (Bichler) Scheeler. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Al married Christine M. Heid on November 13, 1954 at St. Wendelin’s Catholic Church in Luxemburg. He lived and farmed in Maine Prairie Township for over 60 years. Al was a member of St. Wendelin’s Parish and life member of the St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428.

Al was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, trapping, and ice fishing. He enjoyed John Deere tractors, gardening and especially living and working on his farm. Al had a unique talent for crafting spears, chisels, ice tongs and decoys.

Al is survived by his children, Sharon (Stephen) Torborg of Luxemburg, Carol (David) Klein of Kimball, David (Sharon) of Merrifeld, Lorin (Jenny) of Clear Lake, and Mark (Jamie Ruhland) of Becker; 15 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Sally Smoley of St. Cloud; brothers, Clarence of Kimball and Ray of St. Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his wife on December 8, 2006; brothers and sisters, Marie Pope, Jerome, Regina Krippner, Margaret Grams, Laura Pope, Elsie Pope and Alvina Knott.

We would like to especially thank Brookdale Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care our Dad received in his last year.
