November 25, 1916 – January 26, 2016

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in St. Stephen for Agnes T. Legatt, age 99 of St. Stephen who passed away at Assumption Home in Cold Spring on January 26, 2016. Reverend Robert Harren will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery in St. Stephen.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph and after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church in St. Stephen. Parish Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Agnes was born on November 25, 1916 in Sartell, Minnesota to Jacob and Agnes (Peternell) Hlebain. She married Claude Legatt on July 3, 1946 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. She and Claude lived and farmed in St. Stephen all their married lives. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and Christian Women.
Agnes was a woman of strong faith. She enjoyed all the time spent with her family and friends, often making her famous apple bars and homemade bread. Agnes also had great pride in her Slovenian heritage.
She is survived by her children, Val of Niles, MI, Mary (Joseph) Wenner of Cold Spring, Diane (Donald) Hunt of Frisco, CO, Jerome of St. Stephen, Karen (Richard) Grant of Ottertail, Kenneth (Annie) of Rice, Donald (Marie) of St. Michael; 24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; brother and sister Stephen Hlebain and Mary Hlebain; and many nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude in 2009; sisters and brothers, Ludmella, Frank, Valentine and Josephine.
A Special Thank You to the Staff at Assumption Nursing Home and St. Croix Hospice for all the care and support given to Agnes and her family.
